What makes Piercing Lab different from other Calgary piercing studios?
Piercing Lab is a professional piercing studio focused on curated ear styling and luxury piercing jewelry. We use only implant grade titanium and solid 14K gold, sterile single use needles, and a calm appointment based environment. Our in house jewelry line, Niori, is designed and curated by professional piercers, which means every piece is built around how it actually wears, heals, and ages.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Piercing Lab is appointment only. This lets us prepare jewelry, sterilize tools, and give you focused time for placement planning and aftercare guidance. Book online through our Setmore page or contact us if you need a same day fitting.
What jewelry is safe for a new piercing?
For fresh piercings we only use implant grade titanium that meets ASTM F136 standards, or solid 14K and 18K gold. We avoid plated metals, stainless steel, and surgical steel for new piercings because they carry a higher risk of irritation and bacterial buildup. Once your piercing is fully healed you have far more freedom with materials and styles.
What is curated ear styling?
Curated ear styling is the practice of planning multiple piercings across the ear as one unified look, considering placement balance, jewelry sizing, and how each piece interacts with the others. At Piercing Lab we approach curation across consultations, fresh piercings, and downsizing visits, building your ear over time rather than treating each piercing as isolated.
Can I bring my own jewelry?
For healed piercings, yes. For new piercings, we strongly recommend using studio supplied jewelry because outside pieces often have poor finish, incorrect threading, or unsafe materials that increase healing risk. We are happy to talk through your existing jewelry during a consultation.
Do you ship Niori Jewelry across Canada?
Yes. Niori Jewelry ships across Canada from our Calgary studio. Local Calgary clients can also pick up in store or pair their jewelry with a downsize or fitting appointment.
How long do piercings take to heal?
Healing varies by placement. Earlobes are usually comfortable within 2 to 3 months, most cartilage piercings need 6 to 12 months, and body piercings like navel or nipple can take up to a year. Even when a piercing looks healed on the outside, the inside takes longer. Stick with proper aftercare for the full window.
Is downsizing really free?
Yes. Downsizing is included with every Niori Jewelry purchase. Once swelling settles, switching to a shorter bar makes everything more comfortable and reduces irritation. Most clients return at 4 to 8 weeks for downsizing.
